Holidays!

December is a fun filled month-- it's full of holidays! There's Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years (Which isn't exactly a holiday, but it's a fun celebration), and much more! No matter what you celebrate, you always have fun! Although, I celebrate Christmas.  There is a lot you can do to celebrate all these holidays, and they all include family and friends.

Sometimes, during this time, people get stressed and sad, and it doesn't make anything fun. Here are a few tricks you can try to not get in the Holiday Blues.

1. Get some alone time to work on something you need to work on. I need to work on my novel, and I get stressed out if I don't. This is really important.
2. Try to not fight with others. This creates tension, and it makes everyone sad.
3.  Get plenty of rest and relaxation time.

There you go! Some tips to have a fun, happy holiday!

Review of Frozen

Hello, readers! Today I will be talking about the newest disney movie, called Frozen, and what I think of it.
Frozen is about a Kingdom, and in this Kingdom live a king and a queen. They have two daughters, Elsa and Anna, and Anna has amazing ice powers. One day, when the two daughters are both young and playing around with Elsa's Powers, Elsa accidentally hits Anna in the head with ice. She gets injured badly, and the only way to save her is to relieve the memory of Elsa's magic forever. That happens, and after that Elsa hides away so no one will know of her powers, and so they don't get out of control. One day, the king and queen die, so it is Elsa's turn to become queen. On the day they open the gates, Elsa accidentally reveals her powers, and runs away from the kingdom. But as she does, she freezes the whole kingdom. That means it is up to Anna, her sister, to solve the problem, with the help of a few odd friends. But along the way, twists and turns come up! Will Anna be able to turn Winter back to summer? Or will she perish before it happens?

I think this was one of the best Disney movies so far. Interesting plot, sweet characters, and the music was amazing! I would give it 10 out of 10 stars.

What are you waiting for? Go out and watch it!

The End of NaNoWriMo

Today is December first, and that means National Novel Writing Month is over! I hope you all had a good time writing this past November. Actually, I achieved my word count, 30,500 words on the 29th, a day early! I am not quite finished with my novel, but when I am, I will go into revision and editing. Then maybe it will get published! After the 30th, I've created a list of things to do about your novel.

1. Take a break. You have been writing solid for thirty days, and you must be exhausted. Go see a movie, stuff yourself with candy, or sleep for three days straight.

2. If you haven't finished your novel, go back and write until it's finished! You should always finish your work! It'll boost your self esteem. Plus, It will make the next step a whole lot easier.

3. Revise, Revise, Revise! Make sure your ideas make sense and your novel is interesting. Your parents or friends can help you!

4. Edit. Get rid of those nasty typos and punctuation errors.

5. After all of this, if you want to, publish your book. There are a lot of self publishing websites on the web. If you are comfortable, find one, and publish it!

6. Take another big break! Sleep for another two weeks. It will do you good.

You may have heard these before, but they are important!

Happy Writing!

A review of Catching Fire: The movie

On friday night, I got to see the second movie in The Hunger Games Trilogy, Catching Fire in theaters. I decided to review it on here.
The first thing about this movies is the effects. I loved how the dome around the arena was, and the training sessions were really cool. The poisonous fog was really interesting, and I was interested in the arena.
Secondly, I think the acting was better than the first movie. The movie was better than the second book and the first movie, even though a few details were left out. I believed in the characters, and that is important.
Finally, I think that the movie really got you thinking. It made me ask questions about how the end was supposed to go, like if one of the tributes was planning something different than what he said.

I hope you read the first two books, because you would really enjoy this!

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, and anyone can participate. This is when you try to write a novel in a month. You can do it independently, or you can go to the website. On the adult one, the goal is 50,000 words, but on the kids one you can set your own goal. I'm doing it, and it's lots of fun. I hope you will too, and I hope you can get it done!

Curiosity and Wonder

In school, the 4th and 5th grade have been thinking about curiosity and asking questions. I feel that has a lot to do with wonder. We've been doing projects and interviewing people and doing other things to explore our curiosities. Wouldn't it be cool to just stop for a moment and think about all your questions and curiosities and just see what they've made of you? I think that would be so cool!
I am curious about...

-Neuroscience
-Mythology
-Zoology
-Astronomy
-Archaeology
-So Much more!

Maybe you could do this too! Write it down, keep it in your head, or share it with someone! There is a lot of things you could do with curiosity. Just try it out!

Halloween

As you know, Halloween is coming by. There is a lot to do, like figure out a costume and decorate your house. I have a few ideas about what you could be:

-A book character: Choose an interesting character from your favorite book and be that person.
-A Scary person: Ghosts and Zombies!!!!
-A funny thing in your house: A lamp or a chair, cut it out of card board and tie it to yourself!
-Animals: Whether it's a fluffy bunny or a Ferocious wolf, these costumes are easy to find and wear!

Try these ideas, and you will be sure to have a fun halloween!!!!!!!!

Soccer!

Lately, I've been playing on a soccer team. It's a fun and challenging game, and when you play with a friend the only thing you REALLY need is a ball. But, when you are playing on a team, you need some other interesting gear:

-Shorts
-Short Sleeve shirt (or team jersey)
-Cleats (certain type of shoes)
-Shin guards
-Long Socks
-At least 10 more people

I hope you try it out, either with a friend or on a team. You can sign up for a school team, or just find one in your city/town.

How to Create a One Person Circus!

A lot of times, on weekends and stuff, I get bored an have nothing to do. I've created something that could be fun: Create a circus. You need a few simple tools:

- Some multi sized stuffed animals or dolls
- A ball of yarn
-Some butter knives
- Any other things for other acts you want to do
- A cool, sparkly outfit
-A format, tickets, programs

First, we'll set up some acts. The butter knives you can use for the sword swallower. The yarn is for the tightrope walker. The stuffed animals and dolls can be your other characters. You can also look on websites for more ideas.

The rest is totally yours. You can handwrite a program, cut tickets. Even do a disappearing act. Magic. Cool characters. It is completely yours. Every thing up there is optional, these are just my preferences. Maybe get some cool fabric or costumes, and you could sew them.

Anything is possible in the circus!

I'm in the mood for role-plays. Aren't you?

Right now in season are role-plays. Role-playsare stories you do with friends. You each come up with a few characters and write a story from their different point of views. I'm in the middle of one on a website, and I'm starting one with a friend. It's really easy , and it's really fun. Plus, you can make it about anything! You should try it!

How About This One?

I could write a story about a crime scene from the point of view of the suspect that did it. The way he lies, escapes from the police, and if he feels enough pain to tell. What should the crime be? Maybe he could steal something important. Should it be mystical? What should the characters name be? You help me!

Would this be good?

I'm thinking of some ideas for books. Maybe I could do a story about a weird mythical creature disguised as a pig. It could be half pegasus, half phoenix. Or it could be a mix of two souls from egyptian goddesses. What do you think? Should the pig be a girl or a boy? What should it's name be? Is this even a good idea?

Topics of Books

Hello, readers. I want to know your opinion this time!

I'm writing a lot of books and stories, but here are some ideas for some other ones. Tell me which ine you think is the best!

-The Mistress in the Closet. When Lanie finds a woman in the closet, she claims she was the Mistress of the old little girl who lived there. This woman says the girl who used to live there died, but Lanie doesn't believe it, but when things start to happen, is the mistress the only one to turn to?

What do you think of this one? I'll post more later.

Woodwind Instruments

Woodwinds, woodwinds, woodwinds! I think Woodwind instruments would be great for playing! You could probably rent a clarinet, flute, Saxophone, Piccolo, or Oboe from your local music store, and find out if your school or music store gives lessons. If not, maybe they could recommend a teacher and you could plan out times and dates. So what are you waiting for? Pick up and instrument and start playing!

Cats and Kittens

Meow! Get hopping to your local animal shelter and adopt some lonely bundles of cuteness and joy! Why? Because I think cats are something you should get. Here are some reasons you should adopt cats.

-They are great companions, they will run and jump and play with you, but they are just as happy to curl up on your lap.
- They can be very independent. The don't need to be walked like dogs, they can do it by themselves!
-There are so many kinds, you'll have lots to choose from.

But also, you should be ready for cats to come live with you. Here are some tips:

-Be sure you are equipped with everything. Get bowls, food water, litter box, and toys. Also, you should have the name of a vet and be comfortable cleaning the litter box. Also, if it's a kitten, make sure you get the right kind of food.
- The first or second week after adoption, take the cat to the vet just in case he needs stuff for goopy eyes or antibiotics for a bacteria. Don't get a cat from a run down place that doesn't look well taken care of
- If you don't want even more kittens, get you cat spayed or neutered unless he/she already is.

Enjoy your new snugglebug!

Silent to The Bone By E.L. Konigsburg: a Great Fifth and Sixth Grade Read

Over the summer, I read a book called Silent to The Bone, by E.L. Konigsburg. I really like it and decided to review it on here. I think its a good book, but it's a little mature for younger kids.
It's about a 13 year old boy, named Branwell, who is struck dumb when his little sister goes into a coma. Everyone blames him for dropping her, so he is sent to a behavioral center. That means its up to Connor, his best friend to find out what really happened.

It's a realistic mystery book, but it is fiction. I think it would be suitable for mature fifth and sixth graders, like me.

Also, I hope some of you check out my other blog, everythingaudrey.blogspot.com.

School

As you know, school is starting for kids and teens. A lot of kids are excited to go to school and eager to meet new people. But still, a lot of kids aren't excited or are nervous. I am going to provide some tips and suggestions that may help you get organized and ready to start or continue.

-Set a time to wake up and go to bed. Soon you'll get used to it, and if you don't, you can buy an alarm clock. It'll help you get up.
-Organize everything. Your desk at home and school. Your backpack. Even your lunch box! School will be a lot easier if you do this. Not saying that you have to, but it might help.
-In movies or books, they make the characters think that studying is everything. The truth is, I really don't think it's as important as having time to relax. Sure, you may need to do homework, but you should schedule maybe a couple 5 minute breaks or something that will give you a time to relax. Maybe schedule a day of meditation.

You might've heard these before, but I think it is still important to tell you them. Have a safe and fun school year!

Cardboard Boxes

If you refer to my other blog, you see that I moved. Well, moving comes with boxes. LOTS of boxes. I say, get creative! There are lots of things you can do do with cardboard.

Here are a few ideas:

-Make a fake car! It's really fun to do, and you don't need a drivers license for it
- Turn it over and use markers to make it into an awesome chair!

There are endless possibilities!

Buffy and Magic

Bloodsuckers beware! Why? Because this year Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a thing! Sure, it was popular in the early 2000s, but a lot of people should watch it now too!

Also, abracadabra! Magic is cool! I know some people think it's fake, but if you believe you can do it! Try these things out, and You will love them!

Grab some needles and some yarn! why? because knitting and crocheting are in right now. I suggestyou go to your nearest craft store. they usually have yarn and needles.
